MaTiC 3on3 Paintball Challenge: Mayhem

Finally, after a long break since Liga Kampung #05, Mayhem is back in business. Destination: MaTic 3on3 Paintball Challenge 2013. It took Mayhem's Captain, Hafiz, time to muster available players for this open tournament. Deen and I (who held on tight to the brotherhood code) were the first to step forward to sign up. All we needed was the 4th player, a substitute and the game changer.

Amir joined another team.
Luqman was away on holiday.
Saiful, who earlier said yes, could not make it.
The rest declined due to other commitments.

Our forth player came in at 12am, 7 hours before the competition began. Zam, who we were told, was a Snake Specialist. So there we have it,
the Mayhem MaTic 3on3 2013 Lineup
From left, Zam, Hafiz Le Captain, Myself the pre-ejaculate paintballer and Frizzy Deen.

While waiting for the event to start, I walked around the field area to snap some pictures.

There were 37 teams registered and are split into 4 brackets:
Bracket A:
Villian, MB2, Rasta Killer, I See You, Team Management, Nyeghongen, Drake Knights, BD Zulu, SDQ313 Beta

Bracket B:
Majesty, UMA, KISS, Jebon , Alliance, Painnuts, BD Yankee, SQD313 Alpha, Rasta Shooter

Bracket C:
YY, Demonirojim, MB1, Skin, TB Squad, Sugardaddy, Bak Datang, Black Dragon, Kelab Kuching Malaysia

Bracket D:
Pan, CCP Armada, Anuar Zain Fan Club, Jom Men Penboll!!, Parti Sampai Pagi (PSP), Ngelenyor, MAYHEM, Honey Bunnies, MB3, BD X-Ray

Each team will play against 6 teams in their bracket in 3 minute duration match. Points will be based on number of kills (+5 per kill), number of surviving team members (-1 per dead teamate), reaching opponent's team base and returning back to the start point. A perfect game will earn teams 100 points.

Mayhem was in the Bracket D and below are the teams that we had to go up against to qualify:
1) Mayhem Vs Anuar Zain Fan Club
2) CCP Armada Vs Mayhem
3) Mayhem Vs Jom Men Penbol!!!
4) Mayhem Vs Party Sampai Pagi (PSP)
5) Honey Bunnies Vs Mayhem
6) Mayhem Vs MB3

And this is how it went down:
Match1:
Mayhem Vs Anuar Zain Fan Club
Players: Deen (Snake), Awi (Centre), Hafiz (Left)

While the rest of the team were figuring out on sort of plan that we should go for, being a clown all since born, I was busy cracking up jokes about how queer our opponents would be like in the field. The other 3 members laughed in as well. Little that we knew they pros. I managed to gun down 1 of them who was at the left back flank before getting in the shoulder. Deen was in the snake while Hafiz was playing left.

Final score: Mayhem (5) Anuar Zain Fan Club (99)

Lesson Learned: 3on3 format is indeed a fast game. Also, never ever ever underestimate teams with flamboyant names.

Match2:
CCP Armada Vs Mayhem
Players: Zam (Snake), Awi (Centre), Deen (Right)

Zam was called in to go into snake, I maintained in the middle and Deen was ordered take care of the right flank. We have gone up against CCP Armada in the Liga Kampung #5 and we didn't do well. This time, it was quick and before we managed fight back, CCP Armada had systematically took us out from left to right starting from Zam. I never saw the pallet coming until it hit me.

Final score: CCP Armada (99) Mayhem  (5)

Match3:
Mayhem Vs Jom Men Penbol!!!
Players: Zam (Snake), Hafiz (Centre), Deen (Left)

It was my turn to make for Hafiz to go back to his original position, Back. I forgot to observe the game due to I was busy trying to get the ultimate photo. To my surprise, we won. With all 3 alive. Deen made the heroic run to the opponent's base and back to ours.

Final score: Mayhem (99) Jom Men Penbol!!! (5)

Zam got to excited and walked out of the field before the Marshall could finalise the score.

Match4:
Party Sampai Pagi (PSP) Vs Mayhem
Players: Zam (Snake), Hafiz (Centre), Awi (Left)

It did not go well since the start; I had problem making the run during the break, the cork bitched out the moment I saw the opponent in plain sight, I got caught in a cross fire and there was a major miscommunication between the marshal and I. The player Zam shot was called out at the same moment when the marshal cleared me for a play on. Instead of looking at the hand signal, I went out based on what I heard (the OUT calling- to the other player). Resulting a quick loss to Mayhem.

Final score: Mayhem (5) Party Sampai Pagi (PSP) (99)

Match5:
Honey Bunnies Vs Mayhem
Players: Zam (Snake), Awi (Centre), Zam (Right)

I had confidence that we could take out Honey Bunnies quickly after seeing their score sheets. They were not doing well either. Confidence rose when I found out that they had a girl player who did not seemed to be a charger. But it dropped to its all time low when I saw Amir Majidi, our senior in high school, who kicked our ass in the Quarter Final round of Liga Kampung #05. At G1, I made the charge to pin them down as I noticed that they didn't make any move to go forward. Deen disagreed called it a premature ejaculation move. Hafiz and I was shot almost instantly after the run to centre was made. It was their first win.

Final score: Honey Bunnies (99) Mayhem (5)

Match6:
Mayhem Vs MB3
Players: Zam (Snake), Awi (Centre), Deen (Left)

Hope to qualify to for round 2 *puf* all gone at this point. Not sure who had the first kill but I remembered shouting on the top of my lungs "G1! G1! LEFT SIDE! LEFT SIDE!". Deen got taken out and I too joined him at the graveyard not long after that and that was when we witnessed the heroic charge Zam made for his kill at G2 and G3.  The one on one was awesome, experience did play a major role in his win.

Final score: Mayhem (98) MB3 (10)

Amir's team, I See You, qualified for round 2 on Sunday but won only 1 game and lost the rest.

Upcoming Tournament: MATIC 3 on 3 Paintball Challenge

Heads up lads!

During our yum cha session after binge eating plate after plate of Nasi Lemak, Deen and I agreed that this would be an interesting tournament:
- Full loader with no harness of additional pods will force teams to adapt a slow highly tactical game play.
- Since in house markers will be in use, prepare for disappointing moments.
- The map will probably be scaled down to fit 6 players rather than the usual 10.
- A good live training/ exposure for new teams.

I have been trying to find the official tournament page on facebook but failed, so I decided to texted Mr Sofian to enquire and this was his reply-

LOL.

FINE!!! I'll Walk To Antarctica

Dearest Blog,

They didn't called.

I am used of losing fights and not being a winner but this was devastating. Antarctica has never been in my bucket list but the contest has got me dreaming on daily basis. This I wanted so badly that I would imagine that the competition was so stiff and I was to attend the final interview with Sir Robert Swan himself.

I had it all planned out. The opening speech would something like this-
"Hello, I am Awi and I am more than excited to be sitting in front of a living legend, Sir Robert Swan, the first person to walk both North and South Pole". I would definitely add in some "I love animals and penguins and sea lions and whales and my favourite band is the Arctic Monkeys".

I have even planned my unused leaves for this trip.

How can they not love this?

Its got everything- the Malaysian flag, a walking stick, a retarded man sweating in a full set of climbing gears, a backpack filled with unfolded laundry and the excited face. The perfect winner.

Sigh. Maybe James was right; the gloves was not convincing- could easily attract gangrene. Maybe Meor was right; I should added a polar bear or a penguin into the photo.

Or maybe it was I who I jinxed it.

Yours,
The you-know-who-who-will-be-working-when-the-lucky-2-winners-goes-to Antarctica.

#Awi4 #PRU4Antarctica: Waiting For The Call

From the moment I overheard my colleagues talking about Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) and Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PBTB) have set up a contest to send 2 lucky Malaysians to Antarctica for a 14 days trip lead by the living legend, the Sir Robert Swan, first person to walk on both North and South Pole; I could not stop thinking about it day and night. The contest, in a format of 2 filtering rounds, would first require participants to submit a frontal picture of themselves. 10 lucky participants will then be selected for the second round where they would be required to produce a 3 minute video.

Only 2 lucky winners will be sent to the Earth's southernmost continent.

Throughout the hot sunny day of 4th of October 2013, my mind was not really at work. It was busy orchestrating schemes on how I could land myself in the final 2 spot for the trip. It was also the day that I made alot of calls to friends, begging for them to loan me their climbing gears and I even walked up and down the office trying to find props for my photoshoot.

Being alone at home with an awful lot of free time that night this is what happened.

After much consideration, I picked this particular photo and quickly submitted.

Seriously, this picture has everything that is required for the winning photo.

I was pleased with myself with the photo, I came to a stumble block during the submission when it had to accompanied with a tacky 50 word slogan why Prudential Malaysia should pick you for the trip. Didn't a good job with the wordings but I was very confident on the progress that I have achieved.

It was not until just now that I remembered that the final day of submission was on the 1st of November 2013 and revisited the #PRU4Antarctica official contest website to check on updates and saw this announcement:

All I need to do is pray hard that they would call me up soon.

Keep Calm and Eat Nasi Lemak

When the British government first coined the "Keep Calm and Carry On" slogan back then in 1939 it was intended to raise the morale of the British public in the aftermath of widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities a few months before the WWII. 74 years later, the Malaysians used it as an excuse to eat Nasi Lemak.

It was not a bad excuse, of course, who does not love to eat Nasi Lemak?

While most Nasi Lemak lovers depended on the word of mouth of friends and food blogs for clues and news for their desperate search of the best Nasi Lemak, FriedChillies Food Network came up with the brilliant idea of gathering the best 10 Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley at a single event on the 9th of November 2013 and the event was a blast. Deen and I had no regret attending it.

Despite the heavy traffic, we made it just in time to Telekom Malaysia Convention Centre, Bangsar. The organiser did a good job providing free car parks for us. +1 for the parking spot right next to the lift straight up to the convention hall.

In order to make purchase for the Nasi Lemak, we are required to get ourselves coupon booklets worth RM10/booklet.

Deen posing in front a banner, holding the purchased the event currency

And this is what we saw upon entering the hall.

Chaos.

Aerial view-taken from FriedChillies FB album.

Some of the pictures I managed to snap:

The pricing for each pack of Nasi Lemak has been set to RM2.00 and additional "Lauk" will cost you another RM2.00 per dish. We spent about RM30.00.

Deen with a weird pose.

Some of the Nasi Lemak that was lucky enough to be immortalised is a picture before being eaten-

After an hour and a half of amateur food critic session, we came to final decision that the best was of usual Friday after futsal 223 Nasi Lemak, funny that we found that it tasted extra delicious than the ones we would normally have at the food court.

We then struggled back home DUTIOS (Driving Under The Influence of Overdose Santan). It was a good day.
